Best Cycling Gear Brands
Cycling gear brands have gotten complicated with all the marketing hype and brand loyalty debates flying around. As someone who’s tried equipment from dozens of manufacturers over the years, I learned everything there is to know about which brands deliver quality versus which coast on reputation. Today, I will share it all with you.

The Truth About Brands
Probably should have led with this section, honestly. There’s no single “best” brand—different companies excel at different things, and individual products vary within brand lineups. A brand’s premium tier might be excellent while their budget line disappoints.
Clothing Brands Worth Trying
That’s what makes certain brands endearing to us cyclists—they consistently solve real riding problems.
- Pearl Izumi: Good value across price points. Their mid-range stuff offers solid quality.
- Castelli: Italian brand known for fit and technical features. Premium pricing, premium feel.
- Rapha: Stylish, high quality, very expensive. You’re partly paying for aesthetics.
- Assos: Exceptional quality, exceptional prices. Their shorts and bibs are legendary but costly.
- Gore Wear: Strong on weather protection. Gore-Tex expertise shows.
Component Brands
- Shimano: Reliable, widely available, good value. Dominates the market for reason.
- SRAM: Innovative, different approach (1x drivetrains, wireless). Strong competitor to Shimano.
- Campagnolo: Italian craftsmanship, premium pricing, loyal following.
Accessory Brands
- Giro/Bell: Solid helmets across price points.
- Garmin/Wahoo: Bike computers and electronics.
- Lezyne: Quality pumps, lights, and tools.
- Park Tool: The standard for bike maintenance tools.
How to Choose
Read reviews for specific products, not brands overall. A brand might make excellent shorts but mediocre jerseys. Check return policies—good brands stand behind their products. Consider your actual needs versus marketing aspirations.
Expensive doesn’t always mean better. A $60 Pearl Izumi jersey works nearly as well as a $180 Assos jersey for most riders. Pay for quality where it matters most to your riding, save money where it doesn’t.
